The Start of Coronavirus

The world is a harsh place to live with the survival of the fittest. We can only make do with the technology, knowledge, and physical attributes we have to survive till the next day. Upon reading Twig’s blog “Coronavirus is Sickening,” my beliefs of better sanitary care and efforts to preserve health are further intensified.

I would like to expand that coronavirus spreads just like other cold-causing viruses. Interaction with contaminated objects, direct contact with infected people, or sneezing is enough to spread the virus. The fear of contracting a life-threatening illness is not unfounded because there are hundreds and thousands of viruses similar to coronavirus waiting to infect us all.

To be honest, there is no real safe place that can protect us from the ailments around us. With the advancement of technology in the twenty-first century, the amount of radiation emitted from man-made products have increased from approximately 30 percent to 50 percent within an interval of 20 years in comparison with radiation emitted from nature. Some of the common toxic fumes polluting our air include ozone, formaldehyde, and benzene.

There is no true way to avoid all the toxic fumes, the diseases that kill many people, nor the potential life-threatening ailments existing in this world. Therefore, it would be too stressful to think about the negatives about death from sickness because death is an inevitable process. The only thing we can do is to live life to the fullest while making healthy choices for our future. The fact that citizens in China do their best to seek doctors and peers to cope with their disease is proof that they want to live a healthy life and want to make a better tomorrow.

It does sadden me the idea that the Chinese government plays such a huge role in allocating funds for the doctors to treat their patients suffering from the disease. With the overpopulation problems within China, there should be no surprise the government is regulating the policies and rules dictating the Chinese residents. Within a huge society, there must be order. Without order is chaos. The flaw to such system is that the government can only tend to the majority of the population, while the well-being or interests of the minority population gets ignored or not as prioritized. The news on coronavirus infesting China is not a widespread topic. Perhaps there should be more people suffering and dying from the illness to make coronavirus a sensational topic that demands immediate and solid action from the government to help its people.

However, even without the intervention of the government to fund the doctors into treating patients, the citizens of China could still take action to fight against their ailment. They can form peer support groups to discuss their ailments and instruction on how to get better. They can also form workshops to control the spreading of the disease by giving out masks to cover people’s faces when they sneeze. Another idea is to make a pamphlet educating the citizens how to properly wash their hands. The awareness of being sanitary can help prevent the spread of lethal viruses and can even save a life.
